Carving and Chasing with Michael Kosinski
September 28-October 5, 2025
During this class instructor Michael Kosinski will share with you the carving and chasing skills he acquired while working at Van Craeynest, Inc. in San Francisco.
Starting with a premade brass blank ring for practice, you may be inspired by one of the sample pieces or you can collaborate with Michael to create your own design. After laying out the design, you will then begin to carve on your own sterling silver or gold ring using gravers, burs and files, and piercing out the negative spaces if applicable. Using handmade chasing punches, you then chase the ring and give it texture, sculpting the design to bring it to life.
